Reduce Abuse

Reduce Abuse is a design for social change campaign intended to bring awareness to the Fentanyl drug issue within the Dayton, Ohio area. The idea for this project was to create a visual communication system that would inform and engage citizens to become apart of today’s issues. Opioids overdose, especially fentanyl, is extremely high in the Dayton area. I felt the need to create this campaign due to the fact that fentanyl is extremely dangerous in that just a few granules can cause death. The main goal of the project was just to provide information to Montgomery County residents.

The campaign is comprised of a logo and three touchpoints. The logo includes the letters “R” and “A” in the Omnes Regular font because it emulated the words etched on pill tablets. A pill capsule is included in the logo as a way to give the viewer a subtle indication of what this campaign is about. The three touchpoints are bus stop advertisements, Instagram profile, and website. The Instagram profile is a way to inform and engage with younger audiences about the issue. The website would be created as a permanent resource for the viewer to find information on the issue.

Continuing the process of spreading information on this topic, a poster series would be created to be put in place at several bus stops within the Montgomery County area. There are nearly 30,000 riders of public transportation within this area which includes some public school students. By implementing this poster series at bus stops, it has potential to communicate to those who may not have access to the online resources.
